Feb. 16.,2011 Clifford to me: "Mommy, why did daddy marry you...Is it because he wanted to be your valentine????"

Feb 2 2011 Tonight we were eating Pepperoni Pizza...Clifford wanted more so he said, "Can I have some more macaroni pizza!!!"

January 24,2011 Clifford was telling Lauren she shouldn't do something and I said to him "Please keep your comments to yourself." He replied, "But I don't like these comments!!!" -AH The English language at 6 years old!!!

January 10 six inches of snow with a sheet of ice on top...snow day tomorrow!!!

December 15, 2010 Clifford was writing his name and he wanted to know if other people knew how to spell their names too. He asked Michael and he said "Yes, what is my name?" Clifford looked at him and matter of factly said - "DADDY WHITE"!!!

While we were camping, it was late at night, Clifford asked if he could go to the playground. I didn't know where the playground was located and so I said, "We'll find it tomorrow." He replied rather quizzically (sp) "Did we lose it???"

December 10, 2010 Congratulations to Leanna who will be going to the Spelling Bee Finals in North Augusta!!!

December 5, 2010 I had the stocking laying on the couch so that I could put them up when I find the stocking hangers. Clifford walked over to them and said WOW socks!!! He sat down and put one on his foot and tried to walk around...I guess he doesn't remember "stockings" from last year. He asked if Santa could come live with us so he could play with him everyday!!!!

November 29, 2010 Clifford lost his two front teeth. He took paper & pen & "wrote" the tooth fairy a letter. It was a series of letters & a small pic of a tooth he had drawn. Tonight he got upset about the toothfairy coming into his room. I told him she was quick and he wouldn't see her. He wanted to know if she had a mommy and daddy and he decided that she could not drive a car b/c "toof-fairys don't have hands!!!"

November 19, 2010 Leanna (age 4) at bed time: "Good night sleep tight...don't let the bug bites bite."
Clifford at bed time: "Good night...sleep tight - don't let the bugs bite and don't let your bed eat you!"

November 11, 2010 Clifford brought me a candle in a jar and told me we needed to put FIRE on it!!! Tonight at HawgHeaven, the waitress told him he was "just darlin'" He said "No I'm not, I'm a boy." Then she said, "Oh well you are a sweet pea" and his reply was "No I'm not I'm a HUMAN BOY!!!"

October 6, 2010 I told Clifford that we would always love him and take good care of him. He said "Like God"? Then he said, "I was a baby in Haiti and then I was a big boy and then mommy and daddy came to get me from Haiti." ...I'm still crying!!!!

October 26, 2010 Clifford's class went on a field trip to an Angus Farm - I told him that cows became hamburgers...he only half heard me and yelled out "COWS EAT HAMBURGERS!!!" All the parents laughed at him and said...cannibals! There was no explaining...

August 5 2010 In the van today, completely out of the blue Clifford said, " Hey mom, Thank you for bringing me home from Haiti!" We just sat there amazed at him!

July 13, 2010 cant believe 1 year ago i was looking so forward to today! Six years old !!

June 23, 2010 Leanna and Michael were joking around speaking Creole to each other...I looked at Clifford and asked him what they were saying...he looked at me and rather frankly said, "I don't know I don't speak Spanish!!!"

June 17, 2010 Clifford can spell his name verbally & recognize it written paper. STOP is a red sign, it means DON'T GO. GREEN is a color it means GO MOM!!! He cuts with scissors, follows 3 step direct. & dress himself - "Tag goes in the back" he says as he puts on his pants...He knows almost all of his body parts & just the other night he told me, "I love my dad, He's my friend!!!" What an awesome Father's Day we will have!!!

June 15, 2010 We have a dog named Ginger. Today I bought some Ginger Ale to drink. Clifford asked what it was and I said, "GingerAle"...he looked puzzled and said, "A drink for the dog???"

5/20/10 Clifford graduated from preschool tonight. He had a speaking part and did a great job.

May 16, 2010 We were sitting by the campfire when the wind
changed directions and blew smoke right into Clifford's face. He said, "HEY
WHERE DID THOSE CLOUDS COME FROM???"

May 2010 I was filling up a bucket to keep the carnations in for the recital and Clifford asked me what I was doing. I said I’m giving these flowers something to drink…He said, “Where’s their cup?”

Last night as I was putting Clifford to bed I turned out his light and he said "No, I don't like the dark in my eyes!!!"

Tonight Clifford wanted another PB and J. He said "I need to drink a sandwich". I said MANJE? He lowered his shoulders and looked at me like oops... I meant to say "eat"!

2/14/10 After Sunday lunch today, we were traveling home on I-26 and the Honda Passport broke down. While we were waiting for the tow truck, Clifford said " Drive Daddy!" We told him that the car was broken and we couldn't go anywhere. He looked at us and said "Where's Your chwal "(horse in Creole)... funny funny boy!!!!

Michael and Clifford were going back and forth about what their names were. Michael said “mwen nom Clifford Jay White”...Clifford would say “NO I'M Clifford Jay White”...finally Clifford got tired and pointed to Michael's hand and said "YOU BLANC!!!" (blanc = white)

Clifford's new word for "NO" - "not yes"

Clifford was being silly and acted like he didn't want me to kiss his cheek so I said "Pa Bo NO KISS" and he very quietly said "ME BO YOU!" - I Kiss you mommy!!!

January 2010 Clifford said...daddy go to Haiti to help people at the "ifanage"!!! Daddy go in little airplane to the sky!!!

Clifford and I were on the way to school one morning and the doors in my VW bug locked on their own. He said why did it do that? I said...oh it was the computer. He looked around the car and said..."don't see computer!"

We just drove up the road to our house and Clifford said, "Hey what is it?"and in the same breath he said..."It's home!"

I asked Clifford where he was born...he thought for a minute and said "HAITI". I then asked him..."where do you live now?" He said "Karin and Daddy's house." (He thinks it's funny to call me Karin.) I asked him again.."where do you live?" he looked at me like I was an idiot and said "HOME"!!!

For those of you who know Wanna...Clifford just asked if she could come live with us too!!! He's been asking about her off and on for a couple of weeks now...she has family in Haiti so i don't think it's a possibility to adopt!!! Love his sweet heart!!!

Clifford just told Leanna that he wants to stay HERE with us!!! I think he really gets it!!!

Preschool Party This Morning...Santa will be there... Clifford can't wait...I Had to warn Santa that he might not let him go...If you ask Clifford what he wants he first said...Marshmallows...now he says blue and green presents!!!! That's the great thing about kids and Christmas...not commercialized so much at 5 yrs...at least for a new American kid!!!

Clifford story...He and his sisters sat with Santa tonight to get picture taken...he just keeps saying "NEED TO SEE SANTA CLAUSE" over and over again... Clifford wants to SKYPE Santa...He thinks that since he sees his picture on the computer then he should be able to talk to him too!!!

just saw The Blind Side...In the middle of it Lauren says, Hey Mom this is just like us!!!! What a blessing for my kids to see what's important in life...

Clifford says..."Michaelwave" for Microwave!!! Too cute to correct!!!

Christmas 2009 We put the lights on our tree tonight. Clifford saw the red and green lights flashing and wanted to know "what is it???" We said LIGHTS, He started chanting "yites, yites, yites...it was so cute!!!"

woke up to Clifford asking to watch CARS at 7:30 am! "Lightning McQueen..Lightning Mc Queen PLEASE!" says Clifford

11/10 This morning before I took Clifford to preschool, Lauren was watching her Bible Class Video. When the teacher called for everyone to stand and say the pledge to the flag, Clifford stood up and put his hand over his heart - left hand and he started to say some of the words to the American Flag. I was moved to tears!!! Will post picture soon...

10/28 Clifford saw a picture of Clifford The Big Red Dog and when I asked him what the dogs name was he smiled and said "ME!" - He's sore this morning but doing better.

Praising the Lord that the surgery went very well. The hernia was much larger than the DR anticipated but all went well and he even found some small polyps that could have caused problems later and he removed those!!!! We are very blessed!

10/19 is laughing at Clifford. He came home from school saying...SHOP CHOP and DROLL!!! It took us forever to know what he was saying...STOP DROP AND ROLL!!! Fire Safety Month!

10/11 Today Clifford wanted me to open the garage doors that he saw at Kneece's Car Care...he pointed to the doors and then to our garage door opener!!! He just couldn't understand why I wouldn't do it!!!!!

10/9 Clifford just started singing the clean up song - in English- that he learned at preschool!!! YEA!!!

9/26 He has a small scrape on his knee. I asked him if he needed medicine on it and he ran out of the room and down the hall. He came back with a Tums chewable. He was rubbing it on the "wound". A couple of days ago he picked up the Tums bottle and I took it and said,'”No no that is medicine!!!"

9/17 Clifford just brought a picture of the two of us we had taken in Haiti last June and he pointed to me and said "Mommy" and to himself and said "Clifford"

9/14 He was in his "sock feet" in the car. When it came time to get out at home, he didn't want to step out of the car for fear of getting his socks dirty!!!! He's been home 12 days!!!

9/11 Clifford joined me in singing "Jesus Loves Me" in English last night at bedtime. Thanks to everyone who has been to the orpahanage and has told the children about Jesus' love for them.

9/4 Clifford just called "Mommy" "Mommy" for me to open the door for him. He's riding his new BIG WHEEL!!!

9/3 Home!!! We are loving every minute of our new gift from God. Leanna said on the plane last night, "It feels like he's always been with us." Great bonding with everyone. He loves to eat and blows kisses.

9/2 3 am on the way to the AIRPORT to get CLIFFORD!!!!!!!!

8/27 We have a VISA!!! SO excited!!!!!
