To me, our work in Haiti is what life is all about. It’s about turning out the light at the end of the day (whether in Haiti or in USA) and knowing that our time wasn’t wasted. It’s about agreeing when people say that we should be proud of our family for adopting a little boy from Haiti. It’s about knowing the actual enjoyment that comes from making sacrifices for things that we believe in. And most importantly, it’s about surrounding ourselves with people who feel the same way.
Wednesday night I had the wonderful opportunity of talking about Haiti. Rita Cromer's Circle of Ladies gathered at her home and the girls and Clifford and I went with pictures in hand to speak. Rita had watched our adoption journey first hand and had asked for me to bring Clifford so that her ladies could see him.
I shared about Michael's post earthquake trip and talked about the adoption process. Clifford drove his "piti school bus" around Rita's floor.
On Thursday, we were traveling in the van and Clifford said, "Hey mom, thanks for bringing me home from Haiti!" I didn't know where that had come from because he had never said it before. Today I realize that he heard all that we had said at Mrs. Rita's and he was thankful! What a blessing! God is so good!
