Color by Wanda Harrell

An individual’s eyes all too frequently gaze

In extremely narrow and judgmental ways.

Unfortunately, human eyes take not time to notice

Mankind’s singular color of worth and importance.

It is all too often, the worth of both, women and men,

Is solely judged by the chance coloring of their skin.

Assessment of human value is from there oft conceived,

Unwisely based on how skin color of mankind is perceived.

Beneath the skin resides the color that all earthly things transcend,

The concealed soul’s hue, the only important color at life’s end.
