From The End to the Beginning

Over Christmas dinner my dad mentioned that he would be traveling to Haiti in the coming months to help repair a well at an orphanage and to do some other repair work. At the time I was making a plate of food for my daughter while our youngest daughter sat beside me in her highchair. I nonchalantly looked up at him and said "Bring me back a baby!!!" WOW did that get some strange looks from other family members. I think that was Christmas 2005.

There was a need for a medical doctor to visit the orphanage and we were finally able to go to Haiti in February 2007. Haiti and her people stole our hearts. We returned in the Fall of 2007 and were asked to adopt one of the children. He was a precious 3 1/2 year old boy who didn't seem to want to walk. He appeared to have a hip issue and we knew that we would be able to provide medical care for him in the US that wasn't available in Haiti.

He was chosen for us. In the months between our two visits, we talked about how hard it would be to choose just one child - that is if we were going to adopt...

On September 2, 2009 we brought Clifford home to the US. After full medical evaluation it was decided that physical therapy would be the best for Clifford. His case didn't require orthopedic surgery!!!
